PRODUCTIVE START FOR
PROTECNICA IN SYDNEY STOUSH
It may not have been the fastest car on track
at Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway in the Shannons Australian
Production Car Championship, but Protecnica Racing’s is on the
right track early in its quest for a podium result.
Scott Anderson entered the weekend
at the team’s home track looking to maintain second place after
three rounds, aboard the Class A standings aboard the Elf Lubricants
NSW Holden VY SS Commodore.
After banking solid times in the
day’s practice session, Anderson qualified second fastest in
the qualifying session, with a time of 1:51.5028 around the 3.93km
circuit.
“The car has been running
well,” team manager Michael Stratte reported. “We haven’t
had any major issues with it, or changes to be made. We are mainly
looking after the brakes between sessions which is probably the biggest
problem that we will have this weekend.”
Late in the day, the weekend of
racing started with a six lap scratch race, which counted for class
points. The Elf Lubricants NSW Commodore had no answer for runaway
race winner David Ryan, but Anderson was able to hold out a late charge
from Class A points rival Drew Russell and finish in second place.
“That’s what it’s
all about,” enthused Anderson post race. “We got out there,
didn’t have the pace of Ryan, but I had a great battle with
the guys behind me for second place.
“I was able to build a little
gap over Nick Dunkley when he was having a battle, but when Russell
got past, the Elf Lubricants NSW Commodore just had enough to hold
him out.
“To be honest, I’m
just hopping in, driving the car and having a ball. The guys are doing
a good job so hopefully tomorrow we’ll have another good day
out there.”
Protecnica’s Elf Lubricants
New South Wales Commodore returns to the track tomorrow for the series’
regular reverse-class-handicap-grid format races, both nine laps in
duration. The first race kicks off at 10:35am, with the second scheduled
for 1:40pm.
Protecnica Racing thanks the ongoing
